In fact, I loved THE EXILED QUEEN so much that I could barely wait longer than a few hours before cracking open my ARC of the third book, THE GRAY WOLF THRONE, which I’ve also just finished. I just recently read the first book in the Seven Realms series, THE DEMON KING, and loved it, so I wasn’t really surprised at all to find myself LOVING the second book just as much. ![]() ![]() Jon Klassen's illustrations are intriguing. You, I'm sure, will be able to let it shine. However, if the reader is lacking flair, then the fact that it's speech only limits what they can get their teeth stuck into. In the right hands, with plenty of silly voices, it's a deliciously funny story, with a devilish twist. The cut-down nature of the tale can be either a strength or a weakness. ![]() The humour isn't hammered home, but there's plenty of scope for the reader to play it up, and give the devious rabbit a sneaky voice. The text is sparse, with a strong sense of repetition throughout. I Want My Hat Back is a beautifully pared back picture book. How will the bear ever find his hat? Poor bear. The fox and frog don't know where it is, the rabbit is evasive, and the tortoise is more interested in climbing a rock. ![]() His pointy red hat is about the only thing that puts a smile on his face, and he just can't find it. As with all bears, he's a bit of a surly ol' thing. The List overall is about normal kids in High School who go throw things just in this case your either on it or your not. For example once Bridget Honeycutt was named prettiest Junior she starts to starve herself convinced she was only put on the list because she had lost weight over the summer. The school in Siobhan Vivian’s novel, The List will be instantly recognizable to young adult readers: the social hierarchies, shifting alliances, girl-on-girl hate, prizing of beauty above. ![]() The list also effected people and their self esteem. Others on the other hand liked the attention,like Sarah Singer who wore the same clothes from the monday before homecoming up until the actual dance.
