This book describes to you how all the girls deal with their position on the list and how their friends are also effected. The List overall is about normal kids in High School who go throw things just in this case your either on it or your not. For example once Bridget Honeycutt was named prettiest Junior she starts to starve herself convinced she was only put on the list because she had lost weight over the summer. The school in Siobhan Vivian’s novel, The List will be instantly recognizable to young adult readers: the social hierarchies, shifting alliances, girl-on-girl hate, prizing of beauty above. The list also effected people and their self esteem. Others on the other hand liked the attention, like Sarah Singer who wore the same clothes from the monday before homecoming up until the actual dance. This is a Mount Washington tradition so some people ignore it such as Fern who is compared to her sister prettiest freshman. Do you consider yourself ugly? Do you consider yourself pretty? How do your friends see you? How about your whole school? At Mount Washington High School there's this thing called "The List", where there is 1 pretty girl and 1 ugly girl for each grade level. This is posted all over the school every year but no one know's who makes it.
